Birth Comb

A birthing comb is a tool, often made of wood, that is used during labor to manage pain through acupressure and distraction. The comb is gripped in the palm of the hand, with the teeth pressing on acupressure points in the palm, such as the Lao Gong point.
The sensation provides a form of pain relief by distracting the brain from the intensity of contractions, which is explained by the Gate Control Theory of pain.
This very popular tool can be used in many other situations as well as labour such as; vaginal examinations, smear tests, dentists or when you are feeling pain or discomfort.
